LuLaRoe: A Love Story

Morgan-LLR-BG2-766x1024

I waffled between a few other titles before settling on the one above…

  1. LuLaRoe: That Crazy Legging Thing
  2. LuLaRoe: No Seriously, You Look Nuts Wearing Those
  3. LuLaRoe: Unicorns and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!
  4. LuLaRoe: Why My Husband Hid My Credit Card
  5. LuLaRoe: The Reason My Husband Changed My PayPal Password
  6. LuLaRoe: I Could Be A Drug Addict, Do You Realize How Lucky You Are?
  7. LuLaRoe: Sorry Kids, Mommy Ruined Christmas

So obviously, it’s a thing over here, these leggings. If you follow me on any of my social media accounts, I’m usually wearing some crazy pattern while smiling wildly. :) I’m not sure if it’s the crazy fun patterns that make me feel like a kid again or the fact that these things feel like butter all ovah my thighs, but I just love these stinkin things! A few months ago, as one of the latecomers to the LuLa party, I bought my first pair of leggings and a classic tee. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as I slipped them on, I knew it was love.

I ventured out a bit after that and tried a few of the different tops and dresses. I tried a few things for Maddie too. This is where ‘ish got real.

Before I knew it, I was building a fresh, colorful wardrobe that was slightly getting out of control (letttttt’s be real). But I was feeling ME again. That’s the thing I love most… As a stay at home mama, I was feeling like I had kind of lost a bit of my flair in the day-to-day. To have pieces now that work with my lifestyle, allow me to move and be comfortable and still make me look put together without a ton of extra time — it’s a win.

I’ve only ever been to one actual in-home party. I’ve done the rest of my shopping all on Facebook. It’s been a lot of fun to hunt and search for specific prints, but it can definitely be a time sink! If I am trying to go to sleep and am seeing patterns burned onto the backs of my eyelids, I get the hint it’s time to step back from the Lula for a bit, haha. I have to tell you though, there’s an underground cult of LLR fanatics and it’s straight up SCARY, dude. I mean, not that I know first hand or anything… just… just be careful. ;) They will sell their firstborn (or yours) for a pair of mosaic bear leggings, just saying.

Who Dresses your Man?

My husband refuses to buy clothes for himself.  Honestly, the last time I can remember him actually standing in a clothing store, picking out something for himself to wear was back in 2005.  His birthday is coming up and you know what he said he wanted? Best Buy gift cards.

Oh suuuure, walk around looking like a hobo all day, but hey! At least you have that new Xbox game you’ve been obsessing over for the past 3 months.  (Anyone else want to smack the person who thought up Call of Duty? If I hear ENEMY UAV IS ONLINE! one more time…)

Lucky for Justin, I like to shop.  I do it often and I do it well. I’m also the person everyone consults when they need help picking out his birthday presents. Something tells me Best Buy will not be in the picture this year. Bahahaha.

I’ve always wondered if it would be better or worse to have a husband who liked to shop. Do any of you girlfriends and wives have this issue with your men? Do men who LIKE to shop for clothes even exist??

The Look for Less – Tina Fey

Tina, you are hilarious. Absolutely loved Baby Mama. And I’m digging the nautical-esque look you have going on here. Can I please copy this general idea, but spend about $2,000 less? Okay, thanks.

So, here’s another celebrity-inspired outfit for a fraction of what the original items cost. Let me know what you all think, and if you have enough time, explore Polyvore and try to beat my deal!

  • “The Sweetheart” Curvy Jean – Old Navy: $34.50
  • PPQ Stripe Top – Oli: $43.27 (I know I can do better than this… Disgraceful!)
  • Ruched Front Cardigan – Dorothy Perkins: $35.40
  • Strappy Knot Wedge – Go Jane: $15.99
  • Squared Corner Color Frames – House of Sunglasses: $9.99

I had to add the glasses… come on, it’s Tina. :)

Beyond the Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress is the one piece in a woman’s wardrobe she can always rely on to make her feel feminine, lovely, and irresistible… but it can be quite boring if worn all by it’s lonesome!

I’ve come up with a few different ways to change up that black dress using my new favorite toy, Polyvore.

Ladies’ Night

Bold, fun accessories are the easiest way to dress up any outfit. These hot red heels by Steve Madden and funky charm bracelet by Betsey Johnson make this completely appropriate for Girls’ Night Out. Just try not to attract TOO much attention. :)

High Tea

If you’re going out to Sunday brunch or having tea with Grammy, you might want to rethink that zebra print clutch. A more appropriate and sophisticated way to accessorize is with a cute jacket, dainty jewelry and lacey, feminine details. Don’t forget your hankie!

What are your tips and tricks for dressing up the plain old Little Black Dress?

The Look for Less – Blake Lively

Blake Lively is just too cute for words. And her outfit — GLORIOUS!

Okay, I have a small confession… while sitting at my desk at work (as I am right now — minimize screen power!), my mind is usually on everything BUT my job. One of the most distracting sites on the planet is InStyle.com. I could honestly sit and browse through The Look of the Day for hours (and I have). I get so inspired by all the well-dressed women, and often try to recreate the looks on my own for a lot less money.

Blake Lively’s look just caught my eye for some reason — it’s so crisp and effortless. So, I found some similar items online and just might have to try it out for myself…

So, what do you all think? Please tell me I’m not the only copy cat!
