Baby #2 – Five Weeks

First of all, I want to send out a huge thank you to everyone for all the congratulations and incredibly sweet comments we received! What a blessing that was! I am definitely pregnant… 5 and a half weeks to be exact. It’s super early and I know a lot of women don’t share the special news until they’re past the ‘safe’ point of 12 weeks, but let’s be real here. You all know very well I am physically unable to keep a secret. I basically waited until we told our parents and close friends before running home and taking that video of Madeline. It was about 5 hours after I took the pregnancy test. Serious.

Anyway, to say I’m a little bit nervous about the whole two kids thing is the understatement of my life, I’m not going to lie. Maddie is hyper and insane. The thought of chasing her around for the next 9 months with a huge belly is only slightly unnerving, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and that happens to be a cuddly, sweet-smelling little nugget of a baby. A BABY. I can say with 100% certainty that I will love and adore this one just as much as Madeline and I absolutely can’t wait for him or her to arrive. It’s going to be a long 35 weeks.

On another note, do you want to know what I’m most excited to experience? The glorious return of The Shelf.

Mommy doesn’t want an “ass like a donkey”, Pitbull. But thanks anyway.

  1. are u sure there is only one baby in there?! thats an awfully big shelf for jus 5 weeks.. and NO im not calling u fat if ur in that emotionally crazy prego phase…

  2. haha, I had my son when my daughter was only 14 months old, weighed 30 lbs and she was NOT walking. That was an adventure. It’s definately not as hard as it sounds. lol

  3. Congratulations!!! I don’t know how other people can wait until the safe point to announce it. I’ll be the same way as you and announce it the minute I find out!!

  4. Yay for the weekly pregnancy work bathroom updates! You are a doll! And you should totally rock that bootie! Work it, work it … ;) Haha I love how you’re so gansta, woman!

  5. Ah, congrats! Super exciting for you all, babies are so fun!
Our kiddos are 22 months apart. It’s the best and worst thing, ha! They are so fun to have close in age, and we absolutely adore how close they are now that they are one and (almost) 3. It definently was stressful at first because I get horrendous morning sickness for 6 months, and after our little girl was born our little guy had massive jealousy issues. Now though they are just little balls of energy chasing each other around and the best of friends. It’s awesome. :)
Also, I think the 2nd pregnancy went faster than the first because I was chasing the first around. ;)
    Congrats again!

  7. Lol. That's hilarious. That's Maddie belly (not five week belly). I'm so stoked for you. I so did not wait the twelve weeks either. The whole point is if you miscarry you won't have to re-deliver the news, but ga, could you imagine losing a baby having NO support. Idk. I've never been able to keep my mouth shut either. :D

  8. So glad I found your blog- love it! I am a first time mom and am 23 weeks! I am also having a girl too- can't wait. I look forward to reading about your progress.

  9. My ass looks like that, and I’m definitely not pregnant. I think. I hope. But seriously, I laughed out loud at the Pitbull reference, and strummed a little tiny guitar at my desk. I can’t wait to watch your pregnancy progress (UHM, WTF? Is that an awkward thing to say?) but I am disappointed you have to give up vodka sodas for the next nine months. You do have to give those up, right? I hear babies don’t like the sauce so much.

  10. CONGRATS! I saw the video but then my internet went on the fritz and wouldn’t let me post on the last entry.

are you hoping for a boy or girl?

  11. Mama’s got an ass like a donkey!

You know how much I love that. “That” being the quote and your tush.

So happy for you and Justin and Maddie! WOO. Hot mama comin’ through!

  12. Congratulations!!! I’ve been following your blog since before Maddie was born and loved reading about your pregnancy & mom experiences – excited for round two!

  13. You should be excited! The entire staff at my school knew I was pregnant before I’d even missed my period. Of course, it was hard to hide since I got the call from my doctor in the middle of the school day and I was blubbering in the middle of the hallway. Still, share away. I’m so excited for you!

  14. Nothing better than a public bathroom pic?! (I’ll assume it’s at work!…)
You looked fabulous preggers. SO tiny!
    I was brick house/747 jet/elephant style huge.

    Congrats again Mama!!!

  15. k seriously dude my husband swears my baby bump literally eats my ass. What he doesn’t know is that’s what we call “@#%$@#$ maternity pants” but if I could sport a little extra junk in the trunk to balance things out a little that’d be super great. One feels slightly less than sexy when one’s husband is like, “You have granny ass.” Come to think of it, he’s kind of lucky to be alive, saying that to a dangerously hormonal biotch like myself.

PS chasing around a small fast person makes pregnancy go by super fast. I’m already past the halfways point and I’m like, whaaaaaat?!

  16. I am SO EXCITED for a new round of belly pictures. Can your work please move back to the old building so that we can have the same old bathroom shots again? please?

  17. I don’t think I’ve properly congratulated you on the BABY!

You are way, way braver than me to share so early. I didn’t even tell my PARENTS until week 10 or 11!

When I first saw you were pregnant – I was all, “But her body! She looks so skinny right now!” :-P You can tell I’m at the fatty stage of pregnancy. Ha.

  18. OMG Morgan!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! I totally thought Maddie was just playing around..even though I saw your tweet!. I’m so excited for you.

ugh and I hear you on the whole shelf thing. cause now that I’m done breastfeeding, I’m super sads. I’m reminded of Knocked Up….
“First, they get big. And then they get REALLY big. Like SCARY big. But they’ll go down. And they’ll go wayyy down.”

but I am glad that I finally have an ass.
