Crossing Over

In my daily browsing of Etsy shops, I have discovered so many creative and adorable things.  I love the whole ‘handmade’ aspect of that site!

The other day, I stumbled upon a little shop called Nea that totally inspired me to pick up an old hobby I used to have — cross stitching. My mom and Grammy taught me the basics back in the day and I remember how much fun I used to have making little projects and gifts.  My mom actually still has something I made for her when I was 7 years old hanging in her kitchen. She must really love me or something, because that little stitched strawberry is a tad ghetto.

Anyway, my mom dug out a bunch of old floss she had and I bought some Aida fabric at Michael’s and decided to try my hand at it once again.  I whipped up this little bird on a branch while watching The Office last night (pattern found online at Martha Stewart).

In keeping with the whole semi-homemade gift giving concept, I’m thinking my Christmas gifts are going to get a little crafty this year.  I can’t wait to get started!

Just call me Bag Lady

I recently played Hostess of a party.  A Purse Party.

I am not the slightest bit ashamed of my ever-growing obsession with designer inspired purses (which is basically just a fancy way of saying “cheap knock-off”), and neither were my guests… These girls were awesome!  With their purchases adding up to a very generous amount, I was able to get this lovely thing for FREE.

Mmm, patent leather goodness.

I snagged this lovely thing as well…

When imprisoned for all my shady purchases, it will match my prison uniform quite nicely, don't you think?

Psst… Keep an eye out for my 100th post because it’s coming soon!  Something awesome is being given away, and you don’t want to miss it!

Falling for the Trends

I have been noticing more and more girls getting into the purple nail polish trend and, being the completely original & non-conformist that I am (HA), I just had to try it for myself.

They're actually not that bright of a purple in person... weird...

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical of wearing the darker shade on my nails at first.  This is probably due to the fact that two of my friends still tease me about that time I wore black polish when we went out a few years ago, when I thought it was incredibly chic and sophisticated and glamorous because EVERYONE ON THE HILLS IS WEARING IT! Apparently those girlfriends of mine didn’t watch The Hills (I know… What?!) and still tease me to this day for ever thinking dark polish could be anything other than gothic.  Whateva, I say.

I give it a thumbs-up too, Lauren. Har-har.

So what do you all think?  Do you stick with more natural colors on your nails?  No polish at all?  Or do you go all out bold, dark, and don’t care if people say you look like you should be wearing a trenchcoat and casting spells?

Do you definitely not put as much thought into it as I do because you actually have this little thing called a life?  Yeah, that’s what I figured.
