Baby #2 – Thirty Three Weeks & a Baseball Baby Shower

Okay, for one week I will take a normal belly photo in good light and without looking ridiculously depressed. But don’t get used to this special stuff because we’re back to our regularly scheduled work bathroom photos next week. :)

Last Saturday, an incredibly sweet group of girls threw me a baby shower. I feel so blessed to have friends who would coordinate such an event during the holidays, while working AND while living in different cities. Thank you Steph, Alyssa, Sarah, Jimaie & Shea! I love and appreciate you all so much!

It’s no secret Justin and I are huge baseball fans (GO GIANTS!), so that’s what the girls chose as the theme!

The invitations were designed to look like game tickets! So AWESOME. Thank you for designing these, Sarah and Johnny!

Cracker Jacks were given as party favors (I took home like, 5 boxes… not gonna lie). Guests were invited to leave a note for me on little slips of paper, and when I got home and read them I was cracking up. All my friends who have sons gave some seriously wise advice: “Make sure to point it down.”

Steph made some adorable centerpieces with old baseballs and Alyssa made the tissue poms and had them hanging up around the place. So cute! We’ll just pretend that blue hat is orange and black. :)

My favorite part had to be what was served to eat… NACHOS and cupcakes! These girls know me.

Jack has clothes now, thank goodness.

Jimaie recently announced that she’s expecting too! Baby #3 is coming this July, eee!

And Kristy, another dear friend of mine since high school, is due in just a few weeks. This girl and I meet for regular Chipotle lunch dates. Hey, our sons make the rules… we just follow them.

Maddie Jo came too, of course. I still don’t know if she fully grasps the concept of there ACTUALLY being a baby in my belly, but she does know that Baby Jack is around here somewhere. Everyone keeps talking to her about him and she’s probably wondering where he is so they can play already.

You can check out more photos from the shower here! Thank you again to all my girls who threw the shower and the ones who came as guests! Maddie and Jack are lucky to have such sweet aunties. :)

Baby #2 – Twenty One Weeks

This week has been nutso. My brain is hurty.

I went to Ikea with my Mom and Maddie, redecorated the living room, have been working on about a bagillion pinwheels in preparation for my friend’s baby shower this Saturday, and have been spending all the hours in between either working, making 8 thousand lists of things I need to do/buy/clean, or making crazy stressed out faces like this:

(I’m in a random Britney reference phase right now. Just go with it.)

In pregnancy news, I’m blah blah blah getting fatter blah. Remember when I was all, “Bring on the weight gain, baby! I’m not afraid of you!”?? Yeah, that was silly. I think the weight gain fairy has been paying me nightly visits, and instead of money under my pillow she’s leaving badonk. I swear, I wake up each morning and my butt is bigger than the day before. YIPPEE.

I’ll be back next week with some baby shower photos, a chipper attitude and some maternity spanx, cuz I be classy like that.

Sometimes I Make Things – Felt Pinwheels

I spent the afternoon making these felt pinwheels and I’m kind of obsessed. Me and a few others are throwing a carnival-themed baby shower for a dear friend of mine in a few weeks. I’m thinking a bundle of these in an old mason jar would be quite adorable as a centerpiece, don’t you?

I’m so excited to see how this shower comes together. I’ve recruited my talented sister-in-law of Frosted Cakery to help me with cupcakes and other sweet goodies to go on the dessert table. I also ordered some of these striped straws from Hey Yoyo to work into the mix. I die.

I’ll be sure to take a ton of pictures to show you all when the time comes!

33 Weeks and a Baby Shower

This past weekend my Mom and Grammy hosted a baby shower for the ladies in my family and a few close friends.  It turned out SO lovely!  They served some of my favorite food, including some adorable homemade cupcakes, and planned a few fun games for the guests.  I just had the best time.  It was nice to be the guest of honor and not running around doing, you know… work.  Haha.

I'm in love with these things!

My dear friend Stephanie also drove all the way from the bay area to share in the baby shower fun, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to spend the afternoon with her.  After the shower, we took the gift cards I received and went on a little shopping spree at Target, where I bought Maddie a much-needed dresser (you should have seen the clothes this girl was given… you would die).

Steph loves me, even though I'm a pasty beast.

Later on, we met up with Miss Sarah Marie for coffee and had a good old fashioned, video blogging time (I giggle WAY too much in that video — you have been warned).  That girl is such a crack up and I love her so!  She was sweet enough to bring me a gift for the baby as well — two sweet onesies.

Okay, you know that game where everyone takes turns cutting a piece of yarn to see if they can correctly guess how big the pregnant girl’s belly is?  I never understood why the girl always seemed oh, so offended that anyone would guess a larger size than she actually was. I mean, girl, get a grip.  You’re pregnant… of COURSE you have a big belly!

Well, shame on me.

According to 95% of my family (yes, family… you know, the people who love you unconditionally and who are supposed to lie and tell you that you look fabulous when you’re an absolute hideous mess), I AM A WHALE.  I swear there were 2 extra feet of string on some of these guesses!  Bless my Auntie Sharon for coming within a few inches of my actual size.  I told her, “I knew I loved you for a reason!”

Fat jokes aside, it was a very sweet, memorable weekend.  I’m so blessed to have such great women in my life who would throw and attend such a special event in my honor. Or maybe I’m being a tad self-absorbed and everyone’s actually excited about this new little person who’s arriving in 6 weeks or something.  Hmm, yeah that could be it.

Check out Stephanie’s blog for pictures of her adorable and thoughtful gift for baby Madeline.
